This is my first article for my blog and I would love to share with you how it all started..

Oh, my first bar of soap…

So much fear and stress…

Hi, my name is Ksenia and my story began with the ambition of starting a soap-making business, but along the way, I discovered an unexpected benefit – soap making became my stress relief therapy. Here is my journey from business aspiration to the calming world of soap making.

Like many aspiring entrepreneurs I had a vision. Inspired by the beauty of handmade soaps and their growing popularity, I decided to try my hand at crafting unique, artisanal soaps that I hoped to sell and turn into a thriving business.

The potential for financial success was exciting but I quickly realized that creating a profitable soap business was no walk in the park. The market was saturated, competition was fierce, and building a brand from scratch required time and resources I hadn’t fully anticipated. Besides, I was fully involved in my family dairy business. So I didn’t have enough time for both dairy business and soap making. The pressure to succeed began to take a toll on my stress level.

Amid the hustle and bustle of trying to turn my soap-making business venture into a business, I found solace in the process itself. Slowly, soap making evolved into my personal stress relief therapy.

I decided to dedicate one day of the week only to soap making. The precise measurements, the careful mixing, and the attention to detail required in each step allowed me to immerse myself fully in the task at hand. It became a form of mindfulness, a way to temporary escape the stress of my everyday life.

Crafting soap is an art as much as a science. Experimenting with natural clays and herbs for color and essential oils for scent became a creative outlet that allowed me to express myself without the pressure of generating income. This creative freedom was therapeutic. The soothing scent of lavender, eucalyptus, and citrus not only added fragrance to my soap but also had a calming effect on my mood during the process.

Every time I completed a batch of handmade soap, I felt a deep sense of accomplishment. This sense of achievement provided a boost to my self-esteem, helping me better cope with the stressor of the business world.

In the end, my soap-making venture took an unexpected turn.  Instead of launching a soap business, I found myself drawn to the therapy that crafting soap provided. The soothing process of soap making became a cherished part of my life, a refuge from the pressure of the everyday life.

Life has a way of taking us on unexpected journey. What started as a business endeavour turned into a soothing therapy that brought balance into tranquillity to my life. My soap-making business dream did come to fruition but the stress relieve, mindfulness, creativity, and sense of accomplishment I gained from this craft became invaluable.

Sometimes, the path we choose isn’t the one that leads to success, but it can still lead to sometimes even more fulfilling – personal well-being and contentment.

Yours truly,

Ksenia
